Slippin' & Slidin'

Every summer we invest in an inflatable pool so the boys have a way of cooling off and burning off a little energy. This year we got a Slip n' Slide. Jake and Brady have been having a blast with it. Jake prefers to slide on his knees and Brady is all about slamming himself down face first. Daddy and I are enjoying the endless smiles and good, wet fun!

Black Widow

You'd think with a bug man around the house, that we could avoid problems like this...

The Next Karate Kid

LEGOS!

So the boys have really been into Legos lately. A couple of weeks ago, we offered to take them to Toys R Us so they could spend some of their own money and buy something new to play with, but instead of jumping up and getting ready, they started to argue with each other. After asking them to stop annoying each other, Jake came downstairs and handed this note to Daddy:

After having a good laugh, Daddy marked "Yes" and brought the note back up to Jake. These boys had clearly had enough of being stuck in the house with each other and needed to get out...so we were off! They decided to put their money together and bought some new Legos. They came right home and played for a long time nicely together, so I guess giving in to Jake's "threat" worked out well for Mommy and Daddy.

Father's Day 2010

What's better than swimming, relaxing by the pool, and staying the night in a 5-diamond resort? Nothing! So for Father's Day this year, we decided to take Daddy to the Princess for some fun in the sun. After letting Daddy sleep in a little, the boys woke him up, gave him the gifts they made him, and we were off! We spent all of Father's Day at the pool and went out for some Mexican food for dinner. Uncle Jarrod scored us a late check-out, so we spent most of the following day enjoying the pool too. We had a great couple of days celebrating our #1 guy!

Happy Father's Day, Mauri. Thank you for being such a great husband, incredible father, and friend to me and the boys. We love you even more than you love those Pina Coladas by the pool!

The Rattlers

Last weekend we took Jake and Brady to their first Rattlers game. Mauri and I used to really enjoy going when we were dating and we were so excited they were back so we could take J & B. We went with a couple of good friends from their football team and their parents. From the minute the lights dimmed and that motorcycle zoomed out onto the field for the starting lineup, the boys were hooked! It couldn't have been a more perfect first game...The Rattlers won in a very exciting overtime. J & B were on their feet yelling and dancing the whole game. I know this was just the first of many games we will see. Go Rattlers!

Killer Bees

Season 3 of flag football was incredible! The growth J & B made in 8 months was unreal. The Killer Bees had another undefeated season and won the Championship title again. Amongst all the talk of how much our team had grown and improved, and how well they played both offensively and defensively, there was always something that came across much more loud and clear....sportsmanship. These 10 boys were the most kind, compassionate, hard-working, honest, and fair bunch I have ever seen. They played their hearts out every week because they truly love the game and wanted to do their best. Under the coaching of Daddy and Coach A, these boys worked as a team and understood the need to be gracious, win or lose. Each week I walked away from the field in awe of these 5, 6, and 7-year olds. Not just because of their talent on the field, but because of their positive attitudes and good hearts. Congratulations Killer Bees!!

Memorial Day 2010

Like we do every year, we went to the National Memorial Cemetery with Grandma and Poppy on Memorial Day. We go to pay our respects to those who have served our great country and to all who have lost a family member who has served. As the boys get older, the true meaning of this day and how we spend it, is really starting to sink in. Like always, we visited the graves of two very special people. One is a man Poppy served with in Vietnam, and the other is the father of a dear friend. We always say a special prayer for these men and their families, and we feel blessed to be able to share their stories with J & B. To all who have served or are currently serving our country...we thank you with all of our hearts.
