I was recently looking back at some old posts here on our blog for the boys. Seeing the pictures of them when they were smaller and recalling the stories and fun things we have done together, left me feeling so incredibly happy and blessed. You see, I was not the greatest at keeping up their baby books, I don't have time to sit and scrapbook, and with digital cameras, I don't print enough pictures and slide them into albums. I know that the pictures and stories on this blog are the memories that will last us a lifetime. I don't have to try to remember how old Jake was when he said something funny, or what Brady's thoughts and feelings were after his first day of Preschool . My wonderful husband has preserved these memories for us on this blog.
My only wish is that we would have started this from the very beginning. However, when Mauri told me he started a "blog" for the boys, I believe my response was, "A what?" And I was not alone. As we told family and friends about it, they were also unfamiliar with the term. Blogs were just not a familiar thing for most of us back when we started our family, so I am forever grateful that he started it when he did. In fact, because of Mauri, I am able to enjoy so many other people's blogs now! I can't tell you how many friends and family we have, who have started blogs after reading Mauri's posts. If you follow this blog, I don't need to tell you what an incredibly talented writer Mauri is. My words could never do him justice (as is apparent in my own posts!) so I won't even try. I know he is the reason some of you started blogs for your own families, and that just makes me smile. To be able to share our lives with our family and friends on a daily basis, and celebrate the things we do, no matter how big or small, is a wonderful thing.
Jake and Brady....you have an incredible father. He takes pride in each and every little thing you say and do, as do I. He is so great about keeping this blog updated so that one day you can look at it and really know what you were like when you were younger. He keeps this blog about YOU...for YOU. He wants you to enjoy every minute of your lives, and he wants you to always have memories of the things that made us such a close, loving family. Your Daddy's focus is always on us and our family. No matter what else is going on, he only concentrates on us. You are two polite, sweet, and funny little boys. It is no coincidence that you have a polite, sweet, and funny Daddy. He is a great example for you and I know you will turn out to be amazing men, just like your Daddy. I love you, Boys.
Mauri, thank you for not only starting this blog, but for always taking the time to keep it updated. I wish you knew how many times people say to me, "Mauri is such a good man." And you know what? They're right! You are an amazing husband and father and I want you to know how grateful I am that you always do the right thing for me and our boys. I love you.
